The Thanedoms, heirs of the remnants of old Elibe, are a confederation of formerly autonomous states in the northeast of Maris now united under the rule of the High Thane. A combination of the less than ideal environs of the highlands proud remembrance of the past create a headstrong and independent race of people of great patriotic zeal. The Thanedoms possess the best heavy armour on the continent, backed up by a strong mining and smithing industry.

The armed forces of the Thanedoms are divided into three branches: the Army, the Navy, and the Aerial Corps. In addition, a special operations branch serves under the direct command of the High Thane.
