Avamagnos

From Storing Don

Avamagnos is known as the Sword of Storms, and was first forged and used by Svael Albendroth. Avamagnos is the sword that slew Valistrix.

[edit] Svael's Avamagnos

Adamant Broadblade Enchanted (Amalgamation Epic Ice/Lightning) Enhancing (Strength x2) Extremely Heavy Perfectly Balanced Runed Great Sword

The original incarnation of the weapon, this Avamagnos was a colossal sword, with only one of Svael's natural strength capable of wielding it. The handle was a one and a half feet in length, and bound in runed ivory. The pommel is a large sapphire, connected to the hilt by a small gold length. The cross guard is gold, and bends slightly back over the hands. The guards themselves are simple, although runed, and end with a small cluster of three spheres. Directly below the blade is a golden dragon, which is so finely detailed it seems a living thing coated in gold. The scales, on close inspection, often make rune patterns, although the patterns change. The dragon has tiny sapphires for eyes. The blade itself is blued steel, and up the length of the flat, runed. It is a gently tapering sword, finally curving to a point about five and a half feet out from the guard.

Avamagnos is capable of throwing blasts of ice and lances of lightning from the blade, and when struck in melee, the target is blasted by thunder and frozen by ice as well. The sword protects itself by causing any who have no right to touch it be struck with a shock or a blast of cold. A simple touch by accident or on purpose causes a shock like that of static electricity or touching dry ice. If the blade is grabbed and attempted to be moved, the shocking gets steadily worse, as does the freezing. Thieves have been known to lose hands to the sword's frostbite and have spasms for the rest of their life due to the electrical output.

[edit] Neu Avamagnos

Adamant Enchanted (Close-ranged Epic Ice) Enhancing(Strength x2) Heavy Runed Long Sword

A mere shard of the weapon once used, Neu Avamagnos is only four feet in length from pommel to tip, and is much less potent of a weapon, although still more than dangerous. Half of the hilt remains, with a new, golden sphere as the pommel stone. The guard and the tiny dragon remain, as does the blade out to three and a quarter feet. Svael reforged the blade into a true sword, instead of the broken fragment he had before. The Avamagnos of today lost much of its blade size and all of the lightning enchantments. It still retains the massive strength boost, as well as the ever-sharp edge of the old blade. One of the major points of Neu Avamagnos is that it cannot project the ice spell latent within, instead, it only deals bonus damage in melee, and like the older version, the air around the weapon is so cold that it actually turns the moisture in the air into snow, causing a perpetual icestorm around the weapon.
