The man who brought the Sundering, Svael Albendroth was a mighty warrior and talented general, perhaps the greatest that Elibe had ever seen. Svael is known as the Dragonslayer, for it is he that slew Valistrix. Svael Albendroth is also the first ruler and founder of the nation of Vadal.

Appearance

Svael was massively tall and muscular, even in old age. He stood well over six and a half feet, and weighed well over two hundred fifty pounds. He was broad shouldered and stood straight as a pike, no matter what came. He wore his dark red hair short and spiked backwards with oils, as well as sideburns that stretched from the hairline to the bottom of the ear. Bright yellow eyes that rarely seem to blink are the most noticeable feature about his face, with the blue tattoos that cover all but the very front of his face a close second. He was never very handsome, due to the many scars, and due to his eyes and tattoos, he was never very plain. He always wore an orange cloak, lined with wolf-fur, and held by a golden dragon brooch at his shoulder. Svael was known for speaking in a very distinctive accent - it was unmatched to any place in the world, and is thought to be the result of a club hit to the head when young.

Personality

Svael was, at heart, an excitement seeker. Everything he did was designed to generate the most amount of excitement for himself. He laughed a great deal, and talked when he wasn't laughing. He was loyal to his friends, and would fight to the death for them, as he often did (although it always ended in the death of the enemy). He had a penchant for strong drink and womanizing, the latter of which was quickly disciplined out of him when he married, although he remained fond of potent potables until the end of his days. After the Sundering, the loss of his wife made him a functional alcoholic, although towards the end of his days he began to get over it, at urging from his family.

Abilities & Notable Equipment

Svael Albendroth is the forger and first wielder of Avamagnos, the Sword of Storms. He also wore a suit of adamant plate armor, which is further enhanced by the many runes he has placed into it.

Svael Albendroth was a master swordsman, the equal of Tyler Hitori and Barudin Sayeigh. He focused on single, powerful blows, which made the most of his physical strength. He is the father of the Vadalian style of combat, and his sword techniques can be found in Kaeldar, northern Endal, Tavrica and the Thanedoms. He was also more than proficient with the spear and the axe, and although he focused on the sword, he was more than capable of using those weapons with skill.

Svael was also no slouch at magic, and was one of the more powerful Anima spellcasters during the war that ended Elibe. He used magic primarily as a backup for his melee abilities, although he was the first and only user of Rune Magic until after the Sundering. He used the Rune Magic to create his sword and his armor, as well as enhance the tattoos on his face to increase his already impressive strength and toughness.

History

Little is known of Svael's past, as much information was lost during the Sundering and he was not forthcoming in the years after. What is known is that he was born in the islands to the north of Ilia, which were nominally part of that land although neither paid taxes nor saw Royal Guards. He fought in numerous battles there, but at the age of eighteen, he went south into Bern and Lycia for the purpose of excitement. He fought as a mercenary for ten years, before he met Tyler Hitori, Evandele Katon, and Valistrix. They immediately hit it off and began traveling together, although five years later Svael left them and went back north to start a family. He quickly got bored there, and moved with his family down into the Nabata desert, where he set up a mansion around an oasis. He met Gaius Marus Cassius on that trek, and helped the man set up the Knights Templar. He quickly left that because he was bored and wanted more excitement, although his youngest son, Faust, enrolled as a Knight Custodes.

Svael went to Bern and acted as a Mercenary-General until Valistrix's uprising in Etruria. The King of Bern was slain in battle, and Svael took over the country to prevent the land from being completely subsumed by the Dragon's Forces. He joined forces with the remnants of the Lycian forces, led by his old friends, Tyler Hitori and Evandele Katon-Hitori. Together, they beat the Dragon's soldiers back into Sacae, and all three were present for the final battle.

Svael engaged Valistrix in a duel in the middle of the fray, and slew him. The curses that Valistrix had laid upon himself caused a massive explosion, one which broke apart the continent and scattered the soldiers everywhere. Svael awoke with many of his men in the northern isles of his homeland, which had been sent even farther north by the devastation wrought on the mainland. A group of white dragons there fought against the humans, who they saw as intruders, and over the course of the years, Svael was slain in combat against Aztaliat, the greatest of the white dragons. He gave his weapons and armor to his son-in-law, Skeid Odyr, before he died.
