Within the Existance Core lie the "pure" forms of the six Quintessences that define the multiverse - good, evil, life, death, order, and chaos. The "seventh" pure Quintessence, the Chrono, is at the center, circled by the other six. The Sealed Gate of the Gods is a series of transdimensional barriers around the exact center of the universe that protects the Chrono from any tampering.
These protections were created by the Gods shortly after the universe began and after the rules had been established. The very rules of the universe - from the concept that 1+1=2 to the fact helium is larger than hyrdogen to the forces of gravity and magnetism - are controlled here. Realizing that any alternations, even slight ones, to these rules had the possibility of throwing the entire universe out of whack, the Gods created the Sealed Gate in order to prevent anything from upsetting the balance, themselves included.
The barrier is refered to as a "gate" or a "door" but it is actually a series of interdimensional divine protections so complicated that mortals have no grasp on what really protects the Chrono. There is a room and a door within the Existance Core, but it is largely symbolic and was put there by the Gods in the event that they actually wanted to guide someone into opening the door at any point in the future.
The Sealed Gate is utterly indestructable to any physical, magical, or divine force and prevents any imaginable form of teleportation and viewing, or any other attempt to bypass the gate or discern the contents on the other side. The only way to open the gate is to use the very energies that are controlled behind it - the power of the Chrono. Only beings with high concentrations of completely balanced Quintessences and considerable training to understand and control these forces can open it. Even so, a single being opening the gate would be utterly anhillated by the power within - it requires at least two for mortals to even survive, and three is considerably safer.
The gate was only opened once in the history of the multiverse - during the Restoration of the Chrono. Sai'Kar Lum'Eth, Empress Leos, and Amy Leonarkos were trained by the Time Distortionists to understand the power of the Chrono. The three girls together opened the gate and gained a small fraction of the pure Chrono Quintessence. Using this power the girls lead the remainder of the campaign against the multiverse destroyer Fate and killed the beast once and for all.
