Brief Character History
Erika Lekuan was the second daughter of the royal family. Although she did recieve formality training as part of the royal family, she was never expected to become queen and spent most of her young life as a spoiled brat, running around and causing trouble and generally being tomboyish for a princess.
All of this changed when her family was on a diplomatic visit to Kajar. On a stormy night an attack group from Aquata ambushed the Lekuan caravan and a short battle ensued. When the dust had cleared the Lekuan queen and Erika's sister Cerra went missing. The Lekuans expected a ransom but the Aquatans claimed they hadn't taken the women prisoner. The friendship between the two countries ended and they began to gear for war.
Despite the fact that she was to become queen, Erika disregarded her studies and trained tirelessly in the ways of a warrior. She personally blamed Awaldock, a young Aquatan commander, for her family's death and sought to settle the score with blood. Several years later she confronted Awaldock and challenged him to a duel, but Awaldock disarmed young Erika and froze her in solid ice. Despite having the perfect chance to kill her, Awaldock let her live, and the young girl's rage with herself grew.
Erika basically became an avatar of combat; a soul bent on nothing but becoming stronger and faster. Her skills quickly surpassed even the strongest warrior in Lekuan. Because of her wind elemental innate, thought in Lekuan to be a cursed power, as well as her skills, the kingdom began to fear that she would be their downfall. Even her own father became terrified of her. Realizing she had no place in the city any longer, Erika and a member of the royal guard that was her only friend left the city. They spent months traveling the lands, aimlessly looking for a way to harm Awaldock when news of Lekuan's vanishing reached them. Returning to the city proved that it indeed had vanished entirely, and also provided a chance encounter with Jason Steffke that turned Erika's world upside-down.
Personality and Skills
Erika is one of the most unstable characters in the series. Her absolute hatred of Awaldock and herself created a single-minded warrior with only one goal. However after meeting Jason and the CoD team she realized that there was more to the world than a few xenophobic cities that hated and feared her. Thus Erika became very conflicted; she hated Awaldock and her past with the same intensity as she loved Jason and the freedom he represented. It took her a very long time to get over these extreme emotions, and even when she did she still was very intense.
Erika had natural wind magic and learned the ways of the warrior. Most hybrids focus on either one or the other. However, Erika learned to use her magical influence over the winds to increase her muscles speed far past natural human abilities. She is a Sword Mage in the truest form; even though she rarely casts direct wind spells she is constantly manipulating the air around her body. This is an intense ability that very few others learn and that nobody has ever been known to do better. Erika Lekuan is the fastest person in known history. She can even use her mastery over wind to float short distances.
Wielding a light, easy to whip sword in one hand and a small shield in the other, she makes a fierce opponent to even much stronger or well-armored enemies. Erika is utterly ruthless in close quarters and takes full advantage of her enemy's slower reflexes to attack again and again without mercy. However, maintaining the magic that keeps her inhumanly fast requires a lot of concentration and her armor needs to be flexible or it would hinder her movements greatly. As such Erika is very poor defensively and knows it. She aims to win and win quickly.

Other Fun Facts about Erika
Trivia
- Erika was originally "Princess Lekuan" in the very early version of CoD2; a minor character that served as Awaldock's nemises. In the revision she was given a name and a unique sprite.
- Erika's sprites were originally of a male elf. They were later redrawn to be distinctly female based on a painting done by Jason's father.
- Erika is the only left handed character in the series.
- Jason and Erika originally had no love story whatsoever, but eventually one was added starting at about the cruise ship scene in chapter 5.
- When the engine was transfered over to RPGMaker2003, Erika became grossely unbalanced; she was nearly four times as fast as every other playable character. She recieved a major nerf to agiliy, attack, defense, and MP, but is still the fastest and one of the most powerful characters in the game.
Notable Equipment
Erika's most powerful sword is the Lekuan Fury, a cursed wind-elemental blade that was said to destroy the city of Lekuan. Erika's sister Cerra took to Snowbound and, sure enough, the city of Lekuan was destroyed by the rift created when the Terra's Prayer went out of control.
