Appearance
Long hair, some bland color between brown and blonde, usually in her face or back in a ponytail. Even though it's long, it's no-fuss hair. Mari has green eyes that sometimes look blue, and very delicate features. She looks kinda like a porcelan doll, though she's not very fragile. She's average/slim build and fairly short. Outside her school uniform, she wears one of a seemingly endless supply of black shirts, some with witty comments or pictures, and the same black hoodie sweatshirt every day (Even in summer).
History
Marina (who prefers to be called Mari) was born and grew up in New Mexico, USA, with her mother. She was a normal, energetic little girl and did well in school, though she did get in a few fights and spots of trouble. Her father left with no warning when she was 8 years old and has had no contact with Mari or her mother ever since. She doesn't miss him or care to find him, and is quite resentful and hateful towards any mention of him.
When Mari was 12 years old, her mother was killed in a car accident that left her completely unharmed. After her mother's death, she was sent to live with her mother's sister. Mari's Aunt was the only family member willing to and capable of supporting her (She's very rich. Very.). Her father could not be located at the time of death (big surprise).
Not long after arriving at her aunt's home, it became apparent that the two did not get along. After several years of arguments and awkwardness mixed with bitter glares, Mari was shipped off to the school her aunt and mother had attended in their teens: Second Heaven. Mari saw it as a blessing.
Personality
Mari is quiet in class and prefers to sit in the back. She doesn't like to answer questions and nearly has a panic attack every time her name is called, though she usually knows the answer. She is clever, but so nervous that it's hard for her to speak up. Around her friends, she is more animated and relaxed, but still seems somewhat withdrawn. She doesn't volunteer much information about herself. She has been known to let information slip and is usually embarassed when this happens. She doesn't like to talk about her parents, especially her father, and is defensive and vague when asked about her past, especially her aunt. She enjoys being by herself or in small groups of people. Large groups make her nervous.

Her Mother and Aunt attended Second Heaven and her Aunt wanted to get rid of her.
