Interesting post. Came across while shincearg for a download. Read the book a long time ago and agree with most of your references. Think I have one more: the part where amloki follows Bali by making out the tracks of the horse-girl (don't remember the name, but this one also from Harry Potter) and other marks sounds like something Sherlock Holmes does in a spoofy way.
