Alexandrea Hamilton Barton
Alexandrea Barton is the mother of Ashleigh Barton.
Alexandrea, like her daughter, was lucky enough to find 'the one' while still attending Hogwarts. She was head over heels in love with Benjamin Allen and was building all of her future plans around that fact. Unfortunately, Ben was killed in a horrible quidditch accident and it destroyed Alexandrea.
She soon found herself wrapped in her plans of being a dragon keeper and would occasionally seek solace in the arms of the one person who could fully understand her pain, Ben's best friend, Matthew Barton.
Though Matthew quickly fell in love with Alexandrea, her heart always belonged to Benjamin. It caused Matthew a great deal of heartache but she couldn't over the death of her first love and allow herself to fall for another.
Near the end of her 7th year, Alexandrea became pregnant. At the urging of her parents she chose to marry Matthew Barton even though she would always love another. She thought that maybe she could learn to love him... or in the very least allow him to shower her with the love she couldn't get from another.
Marriage and pregnancy kept her from becoming a dragon keeper. After the child's birth, Ashleigh was a constant reminder that Alexandrea had lost her Ben and all of her dreams. She found herself stuck in a marriage to a man that she didn't love and strapped with a child that she didn't want.
She closed herself off to the both of them, refusing to care for Ashleigh in any way.
The woman has no motherly attachment to Ashleigh; honestly, she really dislikes the girl. She's bitter about her lot in life and had no happiness what so ever. Most of her time is spent in the library that Matthew spent uncountable dollars building. It's easy for her to live in book because she utterly hates her life.
As they say, misery loves company and Alexandrea spends a great deal of her life making those around her completely miserable. Until recently, she did this to Ashleigh with her constant disapproval of the girl's actions and she was slightly grateful when Ed came along and gave her a new angle.
