About "the Juice"
I am a 37-year-old male living in Texas. I have a bachelor's degree in English, and am certified to teach both English and the physical sciences on a secondary level; I'm currently a high school physical science (IPC) teacher. I'm married; my wife has grown children from a previous marriage and we have three wonderful grandchildren; two boys 6 and 3, and a beautiful 1-year-old granddaughter! My name is not an indication of my voracious love of apple juice. When I was younger, I was a teacher's aide in an elementary classroom for autistic children. Charles, one of my students, was (and, I suppose, still is) a wonderful savant piano player. Another of his habits was this phrase he would often blurt out: "Apple juice...FOOOOOOL!!!" The other teachers and I were stumped for several months, until it dawned on us that he was asking for a FULL glass of apple juice! I enjoy reading (science fiction/fantasy - I'm currently on a Conan kick), gaming (anything that doesn't require strenuous physical effort), and movies (The Prestige was the last we saw).
Recent troubles
Last ya'll heard, I was finishing up finals for my 10th grade kiddoes (I'm a high school teacher) and getting ready to enjoy a nice, well-deserved vacation. Thursday before this vacation was to begin, I finish up school early due to said finals, and head off to do a tad of Christmas shopping. My wife Shirley works nights at the local hospital and usually sleeps until I get home, so I didn't figure she'd mind not seeing me for a couple of hours while I bought her wondrous under-the-tree lootz. So it didn't even cross my mind to check my cell phone or turn it on. I'm walking out to my car, glance at the time and see it's about 3:45, and decide to call to see if Shirley wants me to snag some drive-through on my way home. I have several missed calls and two voice messages from her on my phone. Turns out that while I was shopping away, she has tried to reach me because she woke up with extreme chills which caused some chest pain for her. My wife is not in the best of health; she's down to about 25% kidney function and she has diabetes. Unable to get hold of me, she called 9-1-1 and got an ambulance ride to the hospital. Her kidney doctor is worried enough by the 104 degree fever she's running to order her transported to Midland, about 45 minutes away. Anyway, the fever turned out to be a virus (which is now long gone), but it seems that while she was in the hospital, she developed a blood clot in her leg. So she's still in there, on blood thinners, waiting for the blood clot to dissolve. Needless to say, neither of us has had a very merry Christmas season this year. The reason I'm telling you all this is to let you know that I'm still here - I enjoy playing Nomicapolis, and I will definitely resume a more active role once I get my wife healthy. Thanks for understanding!
