Can whoever keeps writing smart arse comments next to London Wetland Centre records please stop. It would be a shame if it discouraged birders reporting birds and news, which after all is the main point of the site, is it not?

- Staines Res: 8 Black-necked Grebe (several going into summer plumage), 2 imm drake Scaup on north basin, 1 pair Smew on south basin by far bank (Jim Fell); also, Common Sandpiper on north basin (Birdguides).

- Wormwood Scrubs: 1 singing Chiffchaff (our first for the year), c10 Meadow Pipit including c4 singers, 1 Stock Dove, c8 Linnet & 7 Redwing. (David Lindo & Roy Nuttall). Firecrest @ 4.30pm in the eastern edge of the 'Back Passage' it's the bit of woodland between Chats Paddock and Scrubs Lane. (Mathew Bournat)
