  • February 14, 1859: Oregon becomes the 33rd state in the Union.
  • By 1859, a weekly stagecoach was connecting Oregon City to Jacksonville, Oregon and a year later it had tied in with the stage to Sacremento through the Eastside Territorial Road. (Dicken 1979:99).
