AT MARCOLA Charles Briggs, head sawyer in Fischer Bros. sawmill at Marcola, died September 15, 1906 at 6 o'clock of jaundice, following typhoid fever. Though the Daily Guard stated he was aged about 50 years, he was born about 1869 making him 37. This discrepancy adds some speculation but the Charles Briggs stated in the article leaves a wife and one son, besides two step sons. He has been employed in the Fischer mill for the past two years, coming from Myrtle Creek. He was a good workman, honest and industrious, and will be greatly missed by his employers. The funeral will be held Monday morning, with interment in the Dexter cemetery. His father was Elias M Briggs.
