Paul Brattain was born December 28, 1801 in North Caroline. Paul arrived in Oregon from Iowa in 1852 and was a farmer in Lane County. He was a Republican representative of Lane County in the 1857 Constitutional Convention Of Oregon held in Salem August 17 to September 18, 1857. The other representatives for the county were William W. Bristow (Democrat), Enoch Hoult (Republican), Enoch, Isaac R Moores (Democrat), and Jess Cox (Democrat).
His wife was Elizabeth Martha (CARTER) and his son was Thomas Jefferson Brattain.
He died August 20, 1883. He is buried in the IOOF Pioneer Cemetery in the University of Oregon.
