Tell him you're just out adventuring

From Lord Of Utterdom

He perks a brow when you say that, obviously wondering what adventure could lie in the direction of his farm or westward beyond that. He then simply nods, finishes his beer, then points to a straw mat on the floor.

"It's not much, but you're welcome to it for the night."

You take him up on his offer, and when he's turned down the lanterns and gone, you crawl onto the mat and fall into a fitful sleep.

During the night, the farmer creeps back into the room, having figured you for a bandit who rolled some royal. He slits your throat while you sleep, steals everything you have, and vacates the premises with his new fortune.

Weeks later, your decomposing body is found in the house with four others. It seems the farmer you thought was just kindly offering you a place to sleep was a notorious outlaw who'd already killed the real farmer and his family. Your father never understands whether you had turned against him, or were just too stupid to know the difference between East and West.

You are mourned by some, but others begin to tell stories of your depraved nature and no one but your father ever can be bothered to miss you.

THE END.
