You contact a nefarious guard known for doing dirty work for gold, and quietly have him tend to the girl. While you don't mention it again, you hear the girl was found floating in the river nearby, her throat cut.
You get on with your daily routine, putting the nasty business out of your mind.
It won't be but two months later when the guard is caught carrying out another murder for hire scheme, and in return for sparing his neck at the rope, he turns over just about everyone who's ever paid him to kill.

After a cold winter, your body is found beneath a snow drift, frozen solid. You're buried in an unmarked grave, and your name is lost to history and time.
