NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR:

I made Forever Still when my computer broke and my means of recordings were very limited indeed. I had to borrow stuff and yeah, but it gives it a weird dark lo-fi edge.

1. My father's son-

I just thought I would use cool lines even though it is a bit rehashy. I used a C Glover sample AGAIN (I guess I will never get bored of sampling this guy in music) but the rest is dark and angry. You got the Cage/Birdy/******** references all in one song. Random but to new ears I think it would sound cool.

2. Friends is Friends-

This takes a sample from Delirious, sort of a sad line really especially after all that happens? The beat is sick and I just laid down a bit of a shouty/rap thing.

3. On The Run -

very unmemorable song! And the thing with this work in general...it is nowhere up there just sort of a side experiment. I like the grobbly beats. Goes to some damn dark places! But really just repeating 'I dont know' in a song is a sign that maybe your ideas a bit weak...and again I use some really old one liners, stay inside/go outside for example. But I guess when freestyling that is comforting.

04. Seize it all-

again a bit more lyrical and damn dark, this one and the last kinda blend together but I forget this one has some nice sounding stuff and some good oracle/fortune telling lines.

05. On my way home-

without getting too much into detail - being an exile and just feeling god, what am I doing? and then getting lost and things getting worse and stranger....

06. Ice Surrounds Me-

This song is about the idea of being in an Ice Cave. You are surrounded by ice and every time you breathe you add ice to the walls of the cave and so they slowly get closer and closer until you suffocate yourself. I read about it in a book and immediately put the idea in song form.

07. Company of Wolves-

I like playing sad keyboard stuff. More than any other thing pianos really sound like sadness feels. This one is about questioning the humanity of mankind itself and I guess that feeling where you hate everyone including yourself (at times) - yet what kind of attitude is that to bring to the world? Without life and existing, what else is there? But then later you think damn, everyone is a damn animal really, deep down!

08. Forever Still-

Not sure about this as the title OR the artwork but yeah, one of my more lyrical songs. I thought it would be funny to write a kind of poem and make the rhyming as dull as possible. Like 'door' and 'sure' for example, or 'screens' and 'screams.' And write with a sort of emo feel as if it is serious (but it's not really) - yet it is? And just have fun with being a bit annoying!

09. Sometimes not all the time-

This one again? There are a lot of incarnations of this song out there. This is sort of my 'pop' song or as close as I have to one. I guess sometimes the perfect fusion of words and melody comes from somewhere and even if it is just one line repeated over and over again it still sorta works....though I push the listeners limits a bit on this version.

And that is that. Defo will not blow any minds, mainly because of the quality (and as I said I could not control that). But I think it s a cohesive thing with some dark themes and I like it a bit more than some of the other stuff in a weird way, tho none of it would be on a greatest hits CD.
