-- Topics for submission might include, but are not limited to:

1. Analysis of humour in literature, folktales, gags, cartoons, performances, advertisements, etc. in terms of content, presentation technique or form.

2. History/background of the presentation of humour in the ASEAN region.

3. Comparison and contrast of humour in different societies within the ASEAN region itself, and/or within and outside the ASEAN region.

4. Humour and specific cultural characteristics in ASEAN societies.

5. Cross-cultural teaching/translation of humour

6. Analysis of humour from the points of view of specialists, for example, linguists, anthropologists and folklorists.

7. Structure and function of humour in various works.

-- Interested participants may submit an abstract of not more than 250 words (using 1" margins on all sides and 12 pt Times New Roman font size). The title of the paper, the name of the author/authors, the institutions of the author/authors affiliation and contact details should appear on the abstract. All abstracts should be submitted as attachments, in MS Word or PDF format by e-mail to the Secretariat at cuaseanconference@yahoo.com. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The abstracts are subjected to be reviewed by a panel of reviewers and the accepted abstract will be announced on the conference website as well as personal contact via e-mail. All accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract booklet.

-- The full paper must not exceed 15 pages (A4 size) including references and appendix, printed using 12 point Times New Roman font and single spacing, excluding references and appendix. Papers selected for this conference will be reviewed, compiled and published in the conference CD-Rom proceedings.
