-- The Department of Sociology and the Asian Studies Program at Michigan State University seek applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor faculty position, specializing in Southeast Asia and Islamic cultural studies and social movements. We seek a sociologist for this academic year appointment with tenure home in Sociology and affiliate status with Asian Studies. Candidates must have research and teaching interests in Asian Studies and expertise to enhance departmental strengths including the department theme, Global Transformations, or focus areas of urban, race, and migration, family and gender, health and well-being, and/or food-environment-agriculture-science and technology. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a strong, externally recognized and supported program of scholarship; to develop excellence in teaching; and to establish a recognized program of outreach and professional service appropriate to their scholarship. The PhD is required for appointment as an assistant professor.
