There are many problems going on but the largest problem in this article was the fact of urban growth. Urban growth is when a densly populated city grows and expands into surrounding suburbs. These towns are usally not ready to handle these influx of people. There aren't enough stores or homes for the people who move there. Also once people do more there Industry must flourish and grow otherwise the industry might pick up and move to another city where they may be more prosperous. Eventually this leads to the lack of jobs and the lack of income for people to survive on. Also Pollution is another problem that is a result of Urban Growth.

In Carbondale i don;t see much urban sprawl. It is growing but not in the way the Chicago is taking over the surrounding Suburbs. I beleive the town Park Ridge where i used to live was ready for the movement of people by building apartment complexes and townhomes where many families could live. They used space pretty conservativly except when dealing with transportation i beleive they spent too much money, natural resources, and space. I'm not sure how i would help this situation because its the number of people thats the problem not where we put them. We are overwhelmed no matter what be the pure size of the world population and growth.
