The TDF 'Skin-Suit' is an advanced type of battle armor that is used by all Terran Defense Fleet marines when in combat. It provides protection from most small arms fire, as well as advanced communications and sensor systems. The suit can hold pressure in a vaccum, and the rebreather system can provide air for a maximum of one hour.

Capabilities

The skinsuit increases the strength of the wearer. Exact increase in strength depends on reactor output, but at maximum output it will add 400lbf of assistance to each of its wearers limbs. Maximum output can be sustained for roughly 5 minutes +/- 2.5 minutes, before the reactor overheats and shuts down. Due to this limitation, the maximum battlefield output is limited to 80% total capacity.

Full body protection is provided by a layer of electrorheological fluid that can be hardened in .001 seconds upon impact, and is also capable of creating a load-bearing structure within the suit. This layer will fail if power is lost. Vital areas are protected by plate consisting of carbon nanotube reinforced titanium composite.

The helmet contains a high-resolution OLED film display within the visor, which will display information from multiple sensors throughout the suit. On either side of the helmet is a multi-spectral camera. With these two cameras, the suit can generate a stereo image in any light spectrum from infrared to ultraviolet. Ultrasonic sensors are also contained within the helmet. A complementary sensor package is attached to TDF Marines' weapons. This contains a laser range-finder and television sight. By analyzing the difference in perspective between the gunsight and the helmet cameras, the suit's on-board computer can project an aiming point, corrected for wind-speed, distance to target, and target motion, directly onto the helmet's visor display.
