"W-what is it?" Alethea stammered. Erikka shrugged. The two objects that took their attention looked like humans, but they were coming out of a round spaceship that had lights streaming from the sides. And they carried guns unlike anything they had ever seen outside the ray guns they had seen so many times on TV. Erikka glanced back at her friend. "Aliens?" she whispered. "I don't know," came the reply. The two girls wore only their pajamas, as they had sneaked out of Alethea's house when they saw a strange glint across the field. They crept closer to observe and try to hear any conversation, yet stayed far enough back to not be seen. They heard one start to speak in a language they hadn't hear before. It sounded funny to the two girls and made Erikka giggle unexpectedly. The two people, a man and a woman--at least in their forms--turned their heads to the noise. Erikka, being in the front, was the one they saw. Alethea had been hiding behind a shrub, but she was out in the tall grass. They spoke a few more words in the strange language, pointed their guns, and fired. Shock spread across both the girls' faces as the beam lit them up for a split second, and hit its target. They both screamed, then were shocked at the fact that Erikka's scream was cut short, replaced with another, slightly deeper voice. The light surrounding Erikka faded, and what was left was a boy closely similar to her former self, wearing her clothes. He sat down from a crouching position and stated, "I'm not dead--" He seemed confused. "The heck?"

He turned to Alethea, who was staring, mouth agape. She finally got the courage to grin and say, "Boy. That was fun, wasn't it?" "What are you talking about?" Erikka asked. He paused and finally took the time to look himself over. "Oh. I'm... I see... We have to fix this." Alethea's smile grew larger. He got wind of what was going on in her head. "No. Oh, no. We are not going into that spaceship. No way, no how." Alethea's retort was simple: "Want to stay that way forever?" He sighed. "No." "Then let's go."

The aliens had left, probably off to knock other people's lives out of whack. The two friends approached the saucer and entered through the ramp that was left open. They entered into a small room with a low ceiling, and toward the back of the room, a diamond sat, appearing to be sitting, waiting for them. "What is that thing?" Male Erikka asked. Now it was Alethea's turn to shrug. Then she said, smiling again, "Go touch it. See if it helps." Rolling his eyes, he walked over to it, and placed a hand on top. Instantly, there seemed to be two of her in one place: one her original self, the other her transformed state. Then, all of a sudden each of the forms were flung in opposite directions as two separate people. They both got up, and spotted each other at the other end of the room. One a girl with short hair, the other a boy with even shorter hair. The girl fainted, the boy looked scared, and the friend was staring, wide-eyed, at both of them. She came to her senses as she heard footsteps. "They're coming back!" she shouted to the standing boy. "Grab her and run!" He was still shocked, but picked her up and they ran out of the saucer and across the field from where they first discovered the ship, right as the aliens returned at the opposite side.

Erikka woke up the next morning, both of them, to find themselves next to someone both known and unknown. Alethea was standing by the door, already dressed. "There's someone at the door for you," she said simply, looking at the boy.
