Pluto

First it was a god, then a planet (and a cartoon dog), then it got demoted to a dwarf planet. Poor Pluto.

Many people still dispute the "not a planet" ruling.

Pluto has an irregular orbit that occasionally brings it closer to the Sun than Neptune. It also has a single moon that really isn't all that much smaller than the planet itself.
