Min Avakjo
From Egs Mayhem
by nokvok
Name and Nickname: Min Avakjo aka "Cybs" (that's her favorite online name)
Age and Birthday: 22, 23th of March
Height: 5'3
Weight: 105 lbs
Build: On the slim, fragile side, not quite sickly slim yet however.
Hair Color and Style: quite short (2-3 inch), white hair which seems to shimmer blue-ish when the light shines right on it.
Eye Color: the same white-bluish color as her hair, which makes her eyes look oddly glossed like those of some blind people. There's a hint of Asian heritage in the form of her eyes.
Skin Tone: slightly tanned Caucasian
Voice: mild and high
Clothes: She prefers skirts and long sleeved, airy shirts for private use, but goes with whatever is practical during duty.
Personality:
Min is an intelligent young woman, and tries to adhere to that label, though she is a little timed whenever it isn't about computers in any way or form. She knows very well that she's probably as skilled in Computer science as most leading scientists, and that it is only a matter of time until her talents are acknowledged.
She's somewhat naive (despite being at a brotherhood school :P ) but slowly getting more experience.
Aside from that she is a little lost, and seeing herself involuntarily drifting off into some lab to do nothing but programming all day... not that she wouldn't love programming... but she'd rather do something more valuable with her youth.
So it wasn't a surprise that some old classmate convinced her to take on becoming a field agent.
And without disastrous set backs in sight, she's clinging to that decision.
She's not the kind of girl who would die her hair, so those who know her longer than a few minutes might suspect the hair is natural and thus sign of some form of meta-humanoid mutation.
Power: Cyberpsi: The ability to remotely control digital informations. She 'logs in' by concentrating on a particular device she can see or touch, the process is instantly and leaves her body without her control.
Once logged in, her mind works at a speed outwitting any known computer, she can flip bits, alter the course of data and in general do anything a programmer/hacker can do with a keyboard... just a million times faster and more effective.
There are some limits, though.
Firstly, electromagnetic radiation disturbs the remote link, that means the more electronic is around, the close she must get to the computer system in order to take control.
As to the complexity of system she can infiltrate, normal personal computers pose no challenge at all, but large main frames need a more delicate and broader link, even without any disturbing radiation, she needs to get closer to more complex computers. State of the art supercomputers can only be infiltrated via touch... possible AIs pose a serious and dangerous challenge even when touching.
While in the system, her mind is as susceptible to digital attacks as any sentient computer program (as a side effect she is no longer susceptible to things affecting purely biological minds, like telepathy.), though she usually is carefully, adding some back ups of herself and emergency exits.
If the computer is connected to a network, she can freely move through it to any other spot connected, even spreading over several computer. It gets a little tricky if the network is disconnected, in which case her spread mind is forced back to where the main focus lies.
It IS possible to 'trap' her, though that involves major effort and an AI which rises various high energetic EM fields shielding the trap once she is in... and the AI needs to be faster than she herself is!
Her body is left in the posture she leaves it, due to her muscles cramping mildly. That doesn't prevent her from falling over if being unbalanced, neither does it mean one couldn't just bend her arms down or something.
Noticeable pain will cause her mind's attention, but not snap her automatically back. It is very well possible for her body to die while her mind would (probably) survive in digital form.
Other abilities:
Expert programmer and hacker, drivers license, shooting exercises (enough to pass field agent tests, but she hates guns), basic fitness (also just enough to pass field agent tests).
She's got a knack for handling technical things in general, especially electronics, which she is also proficient in.
She's quite dedicated to her computers, and the theory behind computing, being always up to date with current researches and new products.
Disabilities:
Animals and children... Oh, and she's not a serious challenge in combat of any sort, except maybe against computerized battlesuits.
And despite her general intelligence, she is still a little clueless and naive, especially if it is about sexuality. Worse is however that she doesn't admit that.
She never learned to swim, and doesn't exactly like water much.
History:
Min's Mom is in the Management of a small but successful Toy company, and this earning not bad.
Min however was an accident. The result of a one night stand.
Her mother is also kind of a feminist, so she rather went with the pregnancy, looting the mother protection laws to the maximum out of mere principle.
And once she Min was old enough to be giving into care of professional child raisers, she was and her Mom returned to work. All in all the relation to her mother is not great, they barely know each other aside the 'Good morning' and 'Good night' before respectively after work. That doesn't mean her Mom didn't care for her, she just had to squeeze her care into small packages.
And then around the age of 13, Min had her first epileptic fit, and with that her Hair and Eyes changed to the color they have now. A good two dozen specialists later, they finally found someone who saw the signs of her meta-human abilities. Back then the knowledge of Metahumans wasn't spread, and so it took both of them by surprise to find out about them. Thus since age 14 Min was in a Brotherhood school, learning to harness her abilities and learning everything else they could teach her.
Two times she had to break from her education due to episodes of epileptic fits which send her into hospital, and only recently... years passed since the last epileptic fit, they seem beaten... she finished school and prepared to be a field agent.
Other interesting tidbits:
- She's scared of insects and such.
- Min is working on optimizing her notebook as hacking tool, having added several quick adapters and remote link tools. Half of the capacity is running a firewall, the other half a small simulated personality without real sentience, but great autonomy.
- Her online alter ego 'Cybs' is half-way famous as source for excellent pirating and hacking software, she possibly could find quite a few supporters for large scale hacking attempts if she really wanted to.
