You reach out your hand for the box. George is smiling. "A wise decision," he says. "If you had taken the money, I would have forbidden you from seeing her again."

"Because it would have meant I was a superficial, greedy, shortsighted person," you respond. "If I take the money, I have an immediate reward, but once it's gone that's it. If I become Emily's fiance, on the other hand, and marry her and treat her well, I'll never have to worry about money AND I get a wonderful young lady to be with. How can I lose with that?"

"Very good," George replies. "That was the final test."

The two of you walk into Emily's room. Emily stands up, and you get on a knee. Emily's eyes are shining as she slips the ring onto her finger.

You and Emily live long and prosper. George is an awesome father-in-law.
