"We could both check out the book," you suggest, trying to compromise. "It'd be under one of our names, but we'd both share it."
Kristen raises an eyebrow, before finally speaking. "Would that work? We both need a physical copy to read in class, no?"
"Erm..." You bring a hand to your chin, before coming up with a great idea. "I could sit next to you in class, and we could share it that way!"
The neko's ears twitch atop her head, her bright green eyes almost unnerving you. "That's not a bad idea..." she replies. "I don't know you, though."
"That is true," you say, bringing a hand to the back of your head. "I'm the new human student that transferred here a week ago."
"I know that much," she says, giving you a small pout. "I mean I don't know you."
You tilt your head at her. "Huh?"
She sighs, leaning against the bookshelf. "You don't become friends with people after just figuring out where they came from, do you?"
You shake your head. "I guess not."
"Let's start off simple, then." She walks towards you, being much shorter than you, though seeming to have a confident air about her. "I'm Kristen," she greets, sticking out her hand, which you take. "I'm pursuing English to become a writer. I enjoy literature, film and sushi." She smiles. "Better?"
You nod. "Quite."
She nods as well, moving back and crossing her hands behind her back. "Care to tell me about yourself, then?"
