Portal 274

From Create Your Own Story

You jump through Portal 274, albeit a bit unnecessarily, and find yourself in a rocky desert. In the distance, you see a river winding among the dunes. It's dark out, and though there is no moon, a million stars light up the sky. You suddenly feel like there's something you've forgotten about that you ought to be looking for. Something you'd never lose. Something somebody stole.

As you approach the river, you see an old man standing beside a small boat. He holds a long pole and says, "Two pennies. Two pennies, and I'll ferry you across the waters. Or you can stay here. I care not."

You could cross the river here, continue to explore the desert, or head for that large mountain off to the south.
