Karen/Try to counter Marie's knife-strike

You flash up your knife hand to parry Marie's thrust. The blades clash momentarily.

The good news is that you stopped Marie from stabbing you in the heart. The bad news is that you didn't fully stop her blow's forward momentum. Her hand deflects forward and upward and you drop to the ground as your throat is ripped open. Your knife drops from your hand as you feel your life leaving your body.

"I'm sorry, Karen," Marie whispers as she kneels over you. "I wish we could have been co-champions. I will see you in heaven and we will be friends."

Those are the last words you ever hear. Marie closes your eyes as your soul leaves your dying body.
