Casually, you slip out of the alley and cross the street, quickening your pace as you pretend to suddenly notice the drunk man.

"Hey there," you say, drawing to a stop beside him. "Are you okay?" His long, white blonde hair is pulled back in a messy braid, several locks falling in his face as he straightens up and looks at you, his bloodshot blue eyes going glassy as he suddenly staggers backward. You reach out and catch him by the arm, keeping him on his feet.

"I think you've had enough, friend," you say with a chuckle. "C'mon, let me find you a place to lie down." He mutters something about a room at an inn, his speech so slurred you can barely understand, and points up the High Street, deeper into the center of town. That's where the more affluent criminals stay, and you wonder who this guy is. You glance back toward the dock, torn.

Your crew is waiting for you, ready to set sail, but "uptown" Verix Dae is a variable cesspool of wealth and depravity--one you wouldn't mind dipping your toe into. And then there's the question of your mark's identity.
