With the snow coming down thicker, the idea of getting stuck in the mountains, just seems too dangerous. You decide you really need to make the responsible choice and find somewhere to stay here tonight. Across the road is a small hotel, you open your purse and look at your credit card. You only recently have been able to pay it off, but it stares at you longingly. It has been a while since you spoilt yourself with a new pair of shoes and you really wanted to reward your frugal living over the last few months with a new pair when you got back to the city.
You have stayed at the hotel before, it really was comfortable, expensive, but comfortable. You close your purse, think for a moment. There was a also a motel at the gas station just outside of the town. It certainly would save you a penny.
You stare out the window, large clumps of snow flakes blowing around, the wind is harder now. A warm bath in the hotel, a clean soft bed, with pristine white just pressed sheets. The dodgy motel, the sleazy guy at the counter, the floral sheets intended to disguise whatever marks might adorn them from the clientele you have seen standing outside when you stopped to put in some petrol.
You sip the last of your latte, the now luke warm beverage a comfort in this inclement weather. You pick your coat dress that is lying across the chair next to you and wrap it around body fastening a large buckle on the front. You exit the coffee shop and wrap your scarf over your head as the cold wind licks your face. The young man behind the counter mumbles something about the cold as you stand for a second in the doorway, so you step outside letting it close behind you.
