You and Charlotte sit down in one of the chairs to the side as the boy leads Evelyn to her seat. 'I just want a trim,' she says. 'Just take off a couple of inches. Followed by a wash and blow-dry.'
'And the girls?'
'Rachel just needs a decent haircut,' Evelyn says, staring pointedly at you. You resist the urge to stick your tongue out at her. 'As for Charlotte, it's her first haircut. Just shorten it a bit. Do it the way mine is.'
'Very well,' the boy says.
You sigh and pull out your phone. Now for the hour-long wait. You start playing a game on your phone. It's not long before you tire of that too.
Charlotte's fallen asleep next to you. Evelyn's probably dozed off too. You sigh. You could text some of your friends. Sneak out and meet one of them instead of waiting around here. Or you could just have a wander around the shop to pass the time.
