You chose the path of the healer and your teenage years were spent mastering every spell, enchantment, poultice and potion known to magic. Your tutor was a wily old hag who seemed far more interested in death than a healer should be. She had spent most of her life serving on battlefields but because of old age and creaking bones had resorted to teaching.
For many years you were simply 'reasonable' in the witch's eyes, rarely worthy her attention, which was usually dedicated to the best and brightest. However, through dedicated practice you mastered spirit magic and earned your masters approval.
When you graduated from the college, you had become an immensely skilled healer, though you couldn't close a wound as quick as some, your adeptness in spirit magic allowed you command over life and death like few others. Your talents had been noticed some important people and you had a difficult choice to make about your future.
Dynair, a famous adventurer, had visited the college some time ago and you were asked to demonstrate you spirit magic for him. He was so impressed he insisted you contact him the moment you graduated and join him in his travels.
The royal sorcerer had taken a keen interest in you and invited you to join him in the royal household as his apprentice. It was an unusual proposal as no sorcerer to serve the crown had ever taken an apprentice, more often than not they were replaced by the sorcerer who defeated them. Not to mention you were far too old to be an apprentice anyway.
