The best way to keep the beasts from breaking trough is by making the mercenaries tougher to kill, following that strategy you cast Armor Aura to strengthen their defensive line. The beasts are being pressured from behind by your soldiers and the mercs were about to fail, but your magical aura absorbs the blows of their enemies and they manage to keep the beasts at bay. Still, another of the mercenaries just came down with a bad wound. At this rate there won't be anyone left to hold the line soon.
