Theriomorph Abilities (Fey)
A theriomorph (were-creature) is a human or supernatural being with the ability to change into an animal form at will. Those of fey origin are generally the product of the union of a changeling and an animal.
- Shape Change: A fey theriomorph's defining ability is that they can change their shape to that of a specific animal. Their mass remains the same when they change shape, so a 120 pound were-wolf will be a 120 pond wolf. A 120 were-rat would become a 120 pound rat!
- Fey theriomorphs only have two forms, human and animal. They do not have a hybrid form.
- Fey theriomorphs can only change their form into that of the beast type that was a parent of theirs. This alternate form does not change in appearance from one change to the next.
- Fey theriomorphs heal some damage when transforming between forms.
- A fey theriomorph can fully heal itself by transforming between human and animal form until they are fully healed.
- Transforming between forms takes time, much more than their changeling parent's nearly instantaneous transformation. Practice can make the change faster. Unskilled theriomorphs can take as much as 5 minutes to fully change. The most skilled theriomorphs still require 30 seconds to fully transform. During the transformation the fey theriomorph can do little more than change. They can move slowly, albeit in a shambling chaotic manner, but can do little else as their body twists itself into its new form.
- Dual Reproduction: Fey theriomorphs can interbreed with humans or animals of the type that they can transform into. Offspring of a fey theriomorph and an animal results in a natural theriomorph. Offspring of a fey theriomorph and a human can result in a normal human or a fey theriomorph.
- Longevity: The blood of the fey gives fey theriomorphs a long life. They don't begin to show signs of aging until well into their thirties and can live for 150 to 200 years.
- Animal Senses: Fey theriomorphs have the enhanced (or suppressed) senses of their animal form even while in human form. A were-wolf would have an enhanced sense of smell, a were-hawk would have an enhanced sense of sight, a were-mole would have a poor sense of sight, etc.
- Weakness to Iron: The fey blood of the fey theriomorph makes them susceptible to iron weapons. They can touch iron just fine, but iron weapons inflict more damage on a fey theriomorph. The weapon needs to be solid iron to inflict more damage. Steel weapons so not do extra damage.
