'The Damned; or Journey into the Seventh Circle', Ivan Corpseburner
From Create Your Own Story
You feel in a dark mood tonight and pull Ivan Corpseburner's 'The Damned' from the shelf. Corpseburner was a Russian serial killer who had claimed to have used human sacrifice to penetrate the barrier between the human world and Hell. He also was a known cannibal. While imprisoned for his crimes he wrote 'The Damned' an informal and delirious account of his supposed journey to, and through, the seven circles of Hell and his journey back. After he was burned at the stake the Roman Catholic Church ordered the burning of every copy of his manuscript but a few escaped destruction and were printed by mystics and the occasional admirer of Corpseburner. You shiver as you feel the soft leather cover; it is rumored that many of the early editions of the book were bound in human flesh.
But that's only a rumor...
You sit near the fire and find a page, reading intently.
"You cannot imagine, little child-mind. So easily your little child-mind is cracked by even the merest sufferings of your little fellow people. Their little precious agonies. So small and delicious. But you cannot imagine this world of HELL. A searing fire that stripped away my mortality. I am immortal you will see. You may destroy my flesh but I cannot be killed. I was seared by HELLFIRE, what makes you think your earthly fire can touch this blessed flesh? Have you ever heard a million whores screaming out for their souls? It is like an orchestra, a melody of torture no body can endure. That is why SATAN takes your soul. He can do so much more to your soul than any flimsy body. He penetrates the light you were given by your YAWEH, rapes the very being that teaches you to love. To see that light torn apart by holy knives and forks, sundered by chains formed from UNLIGHT...I cannot feel anymore. So great is such beauty that this world simply crumbles at my feet."
You close the cover, feeling unclean. Maybe this wasn't the best reading before bedtime you muse.
