Cia, the watcher of Souls, noticed a special soul, that of Link's, ever reborn. She watched him until she became obsessed with having him for herself. Seeing that Zelda's soul was also tied to his, she resorted to dark magic and violence. She waged a war against Hyrule. Link rose as the Hero, joining Impa and the Hyrulean Army in the war. Joined by a girl named Lana, the embodiment of the light driven out of Cia, they managed to defeat her...but a darker power within Cia awoke, empowering her to open portals into different Era's of Link's past, attempting to free Ganon's soul, trapped in separate pieces in each Era. The Hyruleans managed to defeat the enemies in each era and close the portals, but not before enough of Ganon's soul was freed, giving him a body. They finally confronted the last of Cia's army, and Cia, who gave herself over to the dark magic, seemingly died. However, they then had to deal with Ganon, who attempted a comeback, but was thankfully stopped.
