Inspect the living room

The living room looks much like the main hall, like a war zone so too say. There is an large hole in the wall as if someone has been thrown through it. On a table you find an old battered book. The cover is black and there is no title to be seen. You open the book but there is no title there either but on the first page you notice something that might be of importance.

Everything is writen by hand.
You close the book, such nonsense. You place the book on the table and look around the room for another clue. You spot a small pool of blood on the floor, an distant voice in the back of your head tells you. "Taste it"
