You pray once more for the health of the town (Or rather, kingdom, some people still call it) and walk off to bed, not wanting to deal with whoever was outside your door. You get what seems to be a few minutes of sleep before you hear the sounds of booted feet clomping up the stairs. You have a few seconds to:
Get a candlestick and prepare to ambush the intruder.
Stay in bed and hope they don't mean harm.
Prepare a drink of wine by your bedside table as a peace offering.
