You decided he's aiming for Amir, and take your time lining up a better, more accurate shot. But your act of sacrificing Amir doesn't turn out quite like you planned, as the sniper was, in fact, aiming for you. You catch a bullet in the jaw and collapse. Amir makes a run for it as you slowly bleed out on the hill.
