You've been a high school history teacher for about twelve years now. You teach mostly American History but occasionally dabble in European History given the demand. As a result of your alcoholism, your wife left you three years ago for a slick business man and the divorce just finalized last week. For obvious reasons, your alcoholism has worsened. Your wife alienated your 13-year-old son, Shane, from you (the last time he saw you, on his birthday, he called you an asshole and told you he never wanted to see you again), but her "bitchcraft" hasn't worked on your 17-year-old daughter, Alyssa, who's stuck by your side through everything. She's the one light in your life that's kept you going-kept you from ending it all.
You're 37 years old.
It's the first day of a brand new school year. "Great" you mutter to yourself as you open up another bottle of vodka. You manage to chug down half the bottle before your first new student enters the door. You quickly shove it under your desk, wrapped in a brown paper bag. She's a clever looking brunette girl. She's wearing a loose sweater and glasses. She actually looks motivated to be there. She gives you a light amount of hope for humanity.
The class starts filling up you have five minutes until class officially starts.
