Your reflexes kick in. You don't know where you are or who these people are but you know you don't want to be here. Your hand siezes on a handle and you jerk the heavy door open, jump through and force it shut behind you.
You find yourself outside the room on a spiral staircase. The stairs are mostly stone and copper but everything is lit with the same hellish red light, only here its barely bright enough to see. The stairs spiral downwards into darkness and, glancing behind you, you see that they continue upwards as well. Disoriented, you wonder which way you should run. You choose to head down.
Just then, a traitorous thought appears from the very back of your mind. No one is chasing you.
From the darkness in front of you, you just have time to detect a chittering sound, almost insect-like, before one of the creatures leaps at you. You have a vague impression of teeth and claws and horribly distorted proportions before everything fades to black.
