With the ever vigilant bus driver's help, all the other kids begin clambering off the bus in a single file, insisting that they do so quietly. You pretend that you don't notice the looks of disgust and pity on most of their faces. Most of all, you ignore the obvious amusement painted on Jessica's face as she leaves the bus.
With a quick swipe, you angrily wipe your tears from your face with the sleeve of your blouse. From the corner of your eye, you can tell that Big Willy feels just as uncomfortable about this situation as you are. Thankfully, he remains silent with an expression of concern plastered across his handsome features.
Once the bus is devoid of most of its passengers, the bus driver signals that it's time for you and Willy to get off as well. However, as you're getting up, Willy surprises you by taking your hand and giving it a warm squeeze.
"Hey... you're still my girlfriend right? I mean... I don't give a fuck about what those assholes think. And I really like you, you know?" He clumsily stumbles over his words as he rambles on.
The bus driver clears his throat to indicate that he wants the two of you off his bus immediately, but Big Willy ignores him and waits for your answer instead.
