Go into the darkness

You paddle silently away from the lights. Soon you seem to feel a draft, and a current pulling the boat along. Finally you see a pinhole of daylight ahead, and paddle faster. The cavern suddenly opens into a lush forest. You bank the boat and climb out. You walk away from the river, hoping to come across... someone. Where are you? Certainly not in the same woods you disappeared from. You have no idea which way to go, and all you have with you is your packed lunch and a few other goodies in your backpack.
What do you do now?
