You and Yuriko continue on the trail as it slopes down from the viewpoint and into an area of thicker woods. Even though you’re in the shade most of the time, the day is hot and humid and you both are sweating from the exertion.

The path opens to a small clearing that is the shore of a pond, about 20 feet across, surrounded by trees. On the far side, a waterfall, about 10 feet high, cascades off of the cliff and down into the pond. The sound of the water splashing adds a relaxing touch to this idyllic scene.

“How is this for beauty,” you say to Yuriko.

“It looks so peaceful,” she says. She wanders over to the edge of the pond and dips her hand in. “Oh… the water feels so nice.”

“Why don’t we go for a quick swim,” you suggest. “I brought towels.” Yuriko looks uncertain. “I didn’t bring my swimsuit,” she says.

“That’s okay,” you say. “Nobody can see you here.”

“What about you?” she asks.
