You’re on the swim team. For some it’s a clique, for others it’s an opportunity to be competitive and macho, and occasionally it might even be a popularity contest. Some are here because their parents made them join, some because they enjoy it, and nearly want to see some teammates in tight racing suits… or less. You’re a teenager, mostly driven by anxiety, sex, embarrassment, peer pressure and self-loathing, probably in that order. Above all, your life seems to be a quest for validation.
You live in a small city, and the swim teams around here mostly compete with teams within about an hour drive. The local high school has a team, and for the families that can afford it there’s a private swim and racquet club with its own team. Some of the teens are on both teams. Beyond that, you are:
