There is a Gym but at present you are unable to access because it is locked.
There is a drunk man passed out in the middle of the road and his hot granddaughter is really upset.
There is a Pokecenter, presumably there is someone who can heal your pokemon, maybe they're hot.
Viridian Forest lies just beyond the drunk man in the street, going to the next city sounds tempting, especially if you want to catch up to Blue and Leaf, maybe Leaf will be in need of a fuck.
