You look at Benjie and say "We can't find no gas anywhere around. A few batteries wouldn't harm us." Then you look at the guy and say "How many batteries do you need?"
"Four would be perfect."
You calmly get four batteries out of your pocket and give him.
When he takes the batteries, he screams Yee-haw!, throws the shotgun and runs into a cabin.
You say "Ben, take the shotgun, I'll take some gas."
When you finish your business with gas, you say "Come on Ben, let's go back."
