To chose to keep going forwards, standing still wouldn't help you, and you already know what is at the temple.
You venture over the hill and you see a huge, red, flying figure. It saw you with its huge black eyes. It opened its mouth and a fire ball came hurtling towards your face. The shire impact of the ball killed you with only your fiery renames left with the book on top off your corpse, unharmed.
