Prologue
Cheryl Ross, Esq. was always on the fast track to success, moving swiftly through her schooling, she graduated Law School at just 19. This impressive feat earned her a shot, right out of the gate with Anderson & Smith, a prestigious corporate law firm.
Her youthful good looks hid a fierce intellect, and a ruthless nature, she had quickly earned a string of impressive victories, catapulting straight into the upper echelons of the firm.
So here she was, not even 30, and she had her own office, high in a shining corporate tower. And one day she'd sit at the top, as a full partner. It was inevitable, everyone new it, it was destiny.
-
However not everyone appreciated her meteoric rise. Chief among them was Rosa Valentine. She held a deep seeded insecurity for her fellow attorney, that only grew as the little prodigy continued to rise. Which all boiled over when Cheryl was giving an important client over her.
"They chose that... child! over me!" Rosa seethed to her reflection in the ladies bathroom. Rosa had been climbing the ladder here at A&S for almost as long as that brat had been alive!
Rosa was in her early 40s, but the tall, dark haired Italian was still as exotic and sexy as ever. She had never slept around at work, but she wasn't afraid to use her domineering sex appeal to disarm opposing council.
In many ways, Cheryl was her polar opposite. No less attractive, but more cute then sexy. With her short stature, chestnut brown hair, big blue eyes and round button nose. She looked more like a schoolgirl than a lawyer. A fact she had used to great effect, getting her opponents to underestimate her.
Rosa splashed water on her face, and began to cool down. A devious smile soon crept across her face, a sinister plan was forming. it was time to take the princess down.

She spent the next week preparing, the secretary pool would be her best allies. Cheryl had never been overtly cruel to them, but she had made it pretty clear that she looked down on them, on their lack of drive, of ambition. More concerned with boys--Cheryl had never had time for such things--and gossip than working to get ahead.
So when one of these office drones shoved papers for her to sign in her face as she was on hew way to an important meeting, she signed them without question. These things were beneath her, and a waste of her valuable time.
And just like that, her fate was sealed.
Day One
Cheryl arrived at work, and parked her Lexus, like she had many times before. A cold shiver ran up her spine as she crossed into the lobby, but she brushed it off and took the elevator up to the A&S offices. If only she knew what awaited her.
Before she could even sit down, she was called into Mr. Winston's office. He was a junior partner, and her boss, Cheryl couldn't help but feel like she was being called into the principles office. But that was silly, she was a model employee, she had nothing to fear... right?
"John"
"Cheryl, (sigh) have a seat"
Cheryl didn't like the sound of his tone. "What's this all about"
"I'll be blunt, we know about the money."
"What money?" Cheryl said, genuinely confused.
"The money you embezzled from the firm." He slid a document across his desk to Cheryl.
As she read, her stomach twisted into knots, and her heart caught in her throat. "This... this isn't me!"
"That's your signature isn't it?"
"Y... yes. but-"
"Save it. Now, normally we'd have you fired and arrested. But it would put a black mark on the firm to have our rising star betray us like this."
"I didn't betray you sir." Cheryl sobs, as tears begin to flow.
Mr. Winston just ignores her and continues. "But, I've been giving another idea. You can either face the law, or submit yourself to our... personal punishment.
"pun... punishment?"
He slides her another document. "Yes, sign that contract, and you agree to any and all judgments we deem necessary. Refuse, or renege on the deal later, and we press charges. And with our legal pull, you know we'll get you 10 years."
(sniff) "You can't be serious. I didn't do it!"
"I'm deadly serious Cheryl. You stole over $500'000 from us. The higher-ups want you to pay. Severely."
Cheryl's head was spinning. This couldn't be happening, it had to be a bad dream!
"Your decision, Ms. Ross?"
Cheryl didn't want to admit to something she didn't do, but she definitely didn't want to go to jail. She takes a deep breath, calms her nerves, and resolves herself.
"Alright..."
Does Cheryl?
