It would be improper to leave without saying goodbye. You walk to where you see a large group of people who came to say their goodbyes to you. You don't really know any of them and wonder why they care so much about you leaving. You remain composed and let their goodbyes slide off you, replying in a curt but polite manner. After a while, you manage to wrestle yourself out of the crowd without appearing rude. Some offered you gifts, you tried turning them down but they insisted.

You receive :

_A set of valuable jewelry. As you decided to look the part of a royal princess, you decide you might as well go all the way and allow the jeweler to put them on you.

_A finely crafted dagger from the local smith. Seems more like an adornment than a weapon. You figure it's actually a better idea than the vicious-looking hidden knife you have on you now. An artful dagger like that wouldn't raise any suspicion even if detected, and it's not like you're going to fight much of a war with a single dagger anyway.

_1000 gold (Nobles looking really satisfied that you finally look like a 'good little girl' gave you a large sum of money. You wanted to throw it in their face, but that would defeat the point so you 'graciously' accepted.)

Between the uncomfortable dress and the endless attention, you feel exhausted by the time you reach the carriage.

There's 20 guards, 30 servants and 10 maids. Hardly much of an army, but all you'll be getting. No use moping about, there are some fine swordsmen among the guards and most of the servants look like they could handle a weapon if it came down to it. You recognize one of the older maids; her name is Betty. She has been around since you were little and always complains you aren't lady-like enough. You don't particularly like her, but given the circumstances it may be a good idea to seek her advice on how to behave when you meet your new lord.

The captain of the guards approaches you with a smirk, but you really don't feel like being toyed with by any more people so you shut him up with a death glare.

He stiffens up and stands at attention, that makes you feel a little better. You know he hates formality so you decide to sympathize as two people being forced to do something against their will. "At ease Duran, I'm just having a bit of a bad day. Just don't ask about the dress."

He gives you a sympathetic smile "I can imagine, lass. I wouldn't exactly be having the day of my life either if dey forced me ta wear 'that' thing".

You take a deep breath and collect yourself. "So, where will we be going, then? Who am I to be a woman for?"

"We'll be taking you to... :"

The prince of a neighboring country as a symbol of our Alliance

The prince of a neighboring country to enforce a ceasefire

An extremely rich trader of noble descent who offered to supply an immense amount of money and resources in return for your hand

A mighty lord who will provide a great military asset to our army

A mysterious lord to whom your father owes a huge personal debt
