Saying goodbyes is a pain and you don't feel like it at all. So you get a good idea: maybe you should go find the more capable servants and see if you can get some of them to join you, although you're a little uncomfortable letting them know you actually value them by asking them to come along.

While you're pondering it, someone walks up to you from behind. You turn to find Patrick, an old servant who used to be your mother's favorite. There are rumours they were more than just mistress and servant - alltough you dismiss such silly rumours as your mother was far too proud a woman to allow a mere servant to touch her. That he loved her, however, you have no doubt of.

You've never personally come to the servants' quarters before, but you don't have the time for your usual games so you hand a list of names to the overseer and tell him to summon them. You also tell him to pretend these people were his recommendation rather than allowing them to know they're all on your list of valuable people. It'd only go to their head if they knew you valued them.

"Miss Amelia..." he stammers. You prepare to fly in a rage over him, a mere servant, calling you by your first name, but think better of it when you see the look in his eye. So instead you throw your hair back and answer haughtily, "Yes - what is it?"

Soon, the overseer returns with the people you requested. "So, these are the servants you recommend traveling with?" you ask for show. He plays along. "Yes, Your Highness, I do believe they are the most capable." You proceed to tell them you need some loyal and trustworthy servants after you reach your destination since you loathe the idea to rely on your suitor's servants to be able to look after your needs. For some reason, you fail to tell them you are afraid to be alone.

"I- you look... so much like her. Your mother, I mean. Ah, forgive me, I am but a lowly servant who used to be in your mother's service."

They look a little hesitant at first due to your casually harsh attitude, but you are also known to pay those servants you like very well - even if you'd never admit to liking them. Most of the younger servants take you up on your offer and you have a full set of 30 servants willing to stay with you at your suitor's place. Among them the stable boy Willhelm from earlier. You pay them each 5 gold pieces(150 gold total), making their eyes wide and earning you spontaneous oaths of loyalty. That should offer you some protection; they aren't soldiers but they can stop one man from doing anything too bad to you and they won't look the other way like his servants would.
-
"It's all right," you sigh. You wonder if it was a bad idea to wear this dress. But this man - Patrick does know a lot of people around here. He's one of the oldest servants after all. This might come in a handy. If you can use him right, you'll be able to make it look like he was the one who recommended the other servants you want to take along. That way, you don't have to admit that you personally wanted them along.
+
Feeling relieved, you head over to the carriage where your escort is waiting. The captain of the guard approaches you. You recognize him as Duran, a powerful warrior and personal friend of your father's. While you respect his abilities, his general uncleanliness, lack of respect and irritating personality make you avoid him. Still, at least you'll be able to rest assured during the trip. No bandit could do anything against this monster.

"Say, I was thinking of taking some useful servants with me when I leave here. You know a lot of them yes?" He nods, a small smile forming on his face. You decide to ignore it and continue, "Then you can bring some of them you'd recommend for me to take along."

You don't feel like exposing yourself to the overly enthusiastic crowd, but as you walk to the carriage you realize you'll be all alone once you reach your mysterious suitor. With only his servants around, he could have his way with you. Unlikely. You turn around and walk to the servants quarters. You may pretend to be too good to even notice the lowly servants, but you know quite well which of them are useful and trustworthy. Capable and loyal servants are the more valuable than gold after all.
